Special Note regarding 100th anniversary of the National Park Service in 2016
I “attended” a conference call regarding the celebration of the National Park Service and they want each quilt group at different areas of the Blue Ridge Parkway to come up with their own idea of how to celebrate the NPS by initiating their own project about local history. Marielle DeJong, an intern with the NPS is in charge of the project. (828) 348-3402 and Marielle_dejong@nps.com. This is not each guild create a block and a quilt hangs at Park Headquarters in Asheville. This is not a hang a quilt at Waterrock Knob, because there is little space for that.
We were to receive an email regarding the conference all, but to my knowledge, it has not arrived. It appears that it is up to us to create something specific to Haywood County’s area of the BRP.
