3/18 Workshop by Sara Hill, quilt teacher at AB tech; former AQG President. Friday, 9:00 A.M. @ Flossie White Room.  “Delectable Mountains” .  For a large quilt you’ll need 60 light/60 dark 6-1/2″ squares.  Lap quilt 16 light/16 dark.  Use many different shades of lights/darks to add interest even if they are in the same colorway.  I will give supply list and more details at March mtg.
Also requested…the usual stuff plus a design wall, straight pins, and a 6 1/2″ ruler if you have one.  Sara will show us how to make accurate half square triangles to get good points in the blocks.

HELPING OTHERS

BE KINDER THAN NECESSARY…because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle!

Quilts for Heroes –   As you know we have received 112 tops from our friends in Florida.  We have now received 55 more.  There are two rolls of batting at the Flossie Room.    All these items have been donated.    Since only 3 tops were taken after the Febrary meeting,  I have managed to farm out twenty more of them!   While I would like to encourage our Guild to finish all these quilts, if more of us don’t help, it may be necessary to contact other guilds, churches and Haywood Community College or anyone who is willing to help us make a wounded soldier feel honored and appreciated.

Remember how great the Hero quilts looked on the stage at last year’s show?  Remember how many donations the display encouraged?

To donate your time:
Flossie White Room:    2nd and 4th Thursday, 10-2
Bring lunch; or
Stop  by and pick up a top you like, measure for batting, add your backing and finish as you please.

….Thank you kindly …Donna Sharpe 734-3444
